College football Saturday: how the TV windows work and where games are shown

By the MethStreams editors · Published

No day in American sport has as many games as a college football Saturday. That makes it fun and also confusing, because the games sit on a long list of networks and many kickoff times are not fixed until close to game day. This guide explains how the day is put together, and how our college football page follows it.

Games come in waves

Networks place games in windows: a late-morning or midday group, an afternoon group, an evening group and, for games in the West, a late-night group. Within each window several games start at roughly the same time. On a big Saturday there are more than fifty games between major programs alone.

The page lists all the games we can find across yesterday, today and tomorrow, sorted by start, with each kickoff shown in the time zone set on your device. Weeknight games on Thursday and Friday, and the midweek games some conferences play in November, appear the same way.

A long list of networks

On the Saturday we checked, games were on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, FOX, FS1, CBS, NBC, Peacock, the Big Ten Network, the SEC Network and the CW. That is eleven different places for one day of football, and fans of smaller conferences may need still more. That is why people go looking for one page that lists everything.

Why times change

Many kickoff times are set by the networks only six to twelve days before the game. Until then, a game can sit on the schedule with a placeholder or an early guess. When the time is fixed, our listing updates on its next refresh, so the time you see on MethStreams is the latest one we have.

There is a second, smaller reason for a late start: games in the same window on the same network can overrun. If your game has not started on time, the channel may still be finishing the game before it.

Which games get links

Ranked teams and anything on national TV nearly always get stream links. Smaller games may only get a link after kickoff, or none at all. Our game pages never show placeholder buttons, so an empty page simply means no working link has been posted yet.

Bowls and the playoff

After rivalry weekend and conference title games, the schedule moves to the College Football Playoff and the bowl games, running from December into January. All of them appear on the same page.

Tips for a busy Saturday

  • Open game pages in separate tabs only for games you are actually watching. Too many video tabs slow everything down.
  • If a link shows the end of a different game, wait a few minutes: the earlier game in that window has run long.
  • Pro football has its own NFL page, so the two never mix.

When a link stalls, move to another one or reload the player. Our troubleshooting guide covers the VPN and connection fixes.

Quick answers

Which networks show college football?

On the Saturday we checked, games were on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, FOX, FS1, CBS, NBC, Peacock, the Big Ten Network, SEC Network and the CW, among others.

Why did my game's kickoff time change?

Networks often set kickoff times only six to twelve days ahead, so a game can be listed early with one time and moved later in the week.

Does every college game have a stream?

No. Big games and national TV games nearly always get links, but smaller games may get them late or not at all.
